Frequently Asked Questions about the Foundation Dyad Program

How long is the Foundation Dyad Program?

The Foundation Dyad Program is 9 weeks long, with nine weekly class sessions of 90 minutes each. The daily Dyads start after the second session. We advise you to check the dates thoroughly before registering.

Do I need to bring a partner?

No, you do not. We match people together based on who has signed up for the course for the daily Dyad practice. You will change partners throughout the program every week.

I’m currently in therapy, is this course right for me?

While we want to reach as many people as possible with this practice, and aspire to work in the healthcare space in the future, right now we are not set-up to offer the support that would be needed for people in psychiatric care or suffering from clinical disorders. We aim to offer the highest level of safety and care for each and everyone who enters our program which is why for now we would say it is not the right fit to join the program. If you would like to talk to us directly about it, you can email us at support@humanize.com as we appreciate each case is different.

Is there a scholarship opportunity for the course?

Humanize is committed to making its programming accessible and affordable for individuals who may not have the financial means to support the full cost. Because Humanize relies on participant payments to run classes, we encourage participants to pay what they can. If paying full price for a Humanize program would create financial difficulty for you, we encourage you to apply for a scholarship. A small number of 25% and 50% scholarships are available. Scholarship amounts are offered based on the number of applicants and the available resources for funding scholarships. Participants of all backgrounds are welcome in the Humanize program. Apply for a scholarship during the registration process.

I’m not sure if I can commit to a daily practice. Does that matter?

A core component of this program is the 15-minute daily dyad practice which requires your commitment. To ensure the continuity of practice and the pairing of participants, it is essential that you are able to commit to a daily practice with an alternating partner for the entire duration of this program. If you are unable to make this commitment right now, then perhaps it would be best to come back to us at another time when a commitment is possible for you.

Is it totally online or do we meet in person?

This is a fully online virtual offering. At the moment we do not offer any in-person trainings.

Can I teach the course after completing it?

No. This is a foundation course to introduce you to the unique practice and give you the tools and knowledge you need to engage in the ongoing Dyad community. Once you’ve completed the FDP and spent time in the community you can apply to become an FDP teacher and potentially join a teacher training program.

What happens once the course is over?

You will be invited to join our paid Dyad Community where you can engage in the ongoing daily practice. You must complete the Foundation Dyad Program to become a Community member.

What Buddhist tradition is it taken from?

The FDP is not inspired specifically by a Buddhist practice. In fact, it has been developed and emerged out of a variety of sources including but not limited to: Satori process, neuroscientific models and psychological research.

Do I need to be a trained meditation teacher to attend?

Absolutely not. This course is open to everyone, beginner and seasoned practitioner alike. We welcome all levels and the course will empower you with the knowledge you need for the Dyad practice. That said, if you are a meditation or MBSR teacher, you may be interested in joining our Teacher Training Program to become a Certified Humanize Teacher.

What if I can’t attend every session?

It’s very important that you are able to attend all the weekly course sessions. We advise people who are not able to commit to the whole course to attend a future Foundation Dyad Program. We want to ensure that everyone fully benefits from the program by not only attending each session, but by being active in the group discussions, breakout rooms and engaging in the daily Dyad practice.

Will I get printable course materials?

No. This is an online program, and you will receive all material as viewable only.

If I can’t make any of current programs work, when does the next round of programs start?

As soon as new program dates are available we will make them available for enrollment here on the website. If you want to be the first to know about all new program schedules, sign up for updates from Humanize at the bottom of the webpage.

What are the technology requirements? Can I just use my phone or do I need a computer? What if I don’t have a smart phone?

You will need a computer or laptop with a stable internet connection to join the weekly training sessions during the Foundation Dyad Program. The sessions are done through Zoom and although you can do them on a smartphone, you will have a better experience if you sign in through a web browser. The daily Dyad can be done either on desktop or on your mobile device.

Will you offer courses in languages other than English and German?

How does the 'Friends for Friends' referral program work?

You can receive 6 months for free for the Dyad Community, if you refer a friend that participates in the Dyad Program. If your friend applies for a scholarship, this offer is not valid.

How does it work? Send your friends name to support@humanize.com, and tell your friend to share your name as a referral in the application.
