Frequently Asked Questions about the Foundation Dyad Program
There are ten separate sessions. Two of them are onboarding sessions that last 2.5hrs. This is to get you set up and ready for the full 8 sessions of teaching experience. After you have completed these two onboarding sessions, you will complete eight training sessions that are 90 minutes each. Depending on how the teacher has structured it, the program might be nine or ten weeks. We advise you to check the dates thoroughly before registering.
To enroll you will be invited to complete an application form, select the course you want to join, sign a waiver and make payment. We will review your application and send you a confirmation email once it’s been processed. Sometimes we like to reach out to applicants directly and talk to them before moving forward to check it’s the right fit.
No you do not. We match people together based on who has signed up for the course for the daily dyad practice. You will change partners throughout the program every week.
No this is not therapy. This is a practice that can have positive impacts on well being, building resilience and social connection. However, we are not offering psychological interventions, psychiatric care or therapeutic treatment.
Whilst we want to reach as many people as possible with this practice, and aspire to work in the healthcare space in the future, right now we are not set-up to offer the support that would be needed for people in psychiatric care or suffering from clinical disorders. We aim to offer the highest level of safety and care for each and everyone who enters our program which is why for now we would say it is not the right fit to join the program. If you would like to talk to us directly about it, you can email us at fdp@humanize.com as we appreciate each case is different.
It is fine to join the course if you are in therapy. However, if you are suffering from any acute disorder for example active psychosis, a manic episode or in a major depressive episode, then now would not be the right time for you to participate.
A core component of this program is the 15-minute daily dyad practice which requires your commitment. To ensure the continuity of practice and the pairing of participants, it is essential that you are able to commit to a daily practice with an alternating partner for the entire duration of this program. If you are unable to make this commitment right now, then perhaps it would be best to come back to us at another time when a commitment is possible for you.
This is a fully online virtual offering. At the moment we do not offer any in-person trainings.
No. This is a foundation course to introduce you to the unique practice and give you the tools and knowledge you need to engage in the ongoing dyad community. Once you’ve completed the FDP and spent time in the community you can apply to become an FDP teacher and potentially join a teacher training program.
You will be invited to join our paid Dyad community where you can engage in the ongoing daily practice. You must complete the Foundation Dyad Program to become a community member.
The FDP is not inspired specifically by a Buddhist practice, in fact it has been developed and emerged out of a variety of sources including but not limited to: Satori process, neuroscientific models and psychological research.
Absolutely not. This course is open to everyone, beginner and seasoned practitioner alike. We welcome all levels and the course will empower you with the knowledge you need for the meditation practice. That said, if you are a meditation or MBSR teacher, you may be interested in joining our Teacher Training Program to become a Certified Humanize Teacher.
Dr. Tania Singer has been an integral part of developing the course curriculum and training our teachers. She has dedicated time to preparing and recording video tutorials explaining the science behind and related to the practice we are sharing. You will receive these 10 minute science videos as part of the weekly training modules. You will not learn from her in person, but you will have the access to all of her training videos and a curriculum that was developed closely with her.
It’s very important that you are able to attend all the weekly course sessions. We advise people who are not able to commit to the whole course to attend a future Foundation Dyad Program. We want to ensure that everyone fully benefits from the program by not only attending each session, but by being active in the group discussions, breakout rooms and engaging in the daily Dyad practice.
Yes. You will receive the Humanize program booklet as a PDF and you are welcome to print it out. Of course, as tree lovers, we encourage you to read it online. 🙂
As soon as new program dates are available we will make them available for enrollment here on the website. If you want to be the first to know about all new program schedules, sign up for updates from Humanize at the bottom of the webpage.
You will need a computer or laptop with a stable internet connection to join the training sessions. The sessions are done through zoom and although you can do them on a smartphone, you will have a better experience if you sign in through a web browser. The daily Dyad can be done either on desktop or on your mobile device.
For privacy reasons the live sessions will not be recorded.
We currently have no plans to offer the program in additional languages. We hope that one day in the future we can serve more people, but for now we are only offering our program in these three languages.
